THE LAND OF
BEATRIX POTTER
A Family Trip to the Lake District
Austria offers a unique experience in Europe, and that Alpine feel has a truly year round appeal. It’s a land of mountains, music, strudel and stunning landscapes.
The capital, Vienna, is famous for the waltz named after it, of course, but is also home to numerous grand historical buildings, and impressive sights. Mozart’s birthplace, Salzburg, is the second city, but no less grand or any less popular.
In the summer, the mountains provide superb walking, stunning scenery, and crystal clear rivers and lakes. With the popularity of The Sound of Music, the hills certainly come to life to the sound of tourists!
In the winter thoughts turn to all things snow, as the winter sports enthusiasts flock to the slopes -
Other towns which are worthy of a visit include Innsbruck, Graz, and Linz, all of which are featured in any number of tour company’s itineraries.
Austria is a country that needs time to explore, as with the winding Alpine roads, and meandering network of mountain paths can’t be hurried. But it’s worth every minute.
Try staying in one of the traditional mountain huts, and then wake early to watch the sunrise from the summit… it’s an unforgettable experience.
Wherever and whenever you go, you’re sure to enjoy Austria.
